Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for managers and employees to consider a flexible work schedule which fits into the business needs of the customer and provide a better work/life balance for employees.
Definitions
Flextime – This arrangement allows employees to alter the starting and ending time of their workday. Employees may be required to work during a core period of time (e.g. 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). The number of hours worked in the day remains the same.
Compressed Workweek – The employee is scheduled to work the same amount of total hours for the week in a shorter period of time (e.g. four 10-hour days).
Policy
It is the policy of GovC to consider flexible work schedules to the extent that they benefit Govc, the customer and the employee.
Responsibilities
The employee must request their flexible work schedule in writing to their manager and obtain approval before starting the new schedule.
The manager must review the flexible work schedule request and evaluate the impact of the request on the customer and the overall staff supporting the contract.
Manager's shall confirm any agreed to flex schedule in writing with the employee.
